Ashley Bird (President & Treasurer)

Charleston Krav Maga & MMA

Ashley Bird is the Program Director at Charleston Krav Maga & MMA. Originally from the north she studied at Castleton State College in Vermont where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Psychology and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Ashley has always had a passion for helping people and giving back to the community. Through high school she volunteered with the Vermont Governor’s Commission on Women, Relay for Life, and Green-Up Vermont. Once out of college she started a Human Resources position with Bruegger’s Enterprises in Burlington, Vermont where she headed their Neighborhood Commitment Program. She worked with Ronald McDonald House, VT City Marathon, Howard Center, Shelburne Farms, Habitat for Humanity, Dismas House, VT Rape Crisis Center and Toys for Tots. After several years with Bruegger’s, Ashley decided it was time for a change of scenery (and weather) and moved to Charleston, South Carolina where for the past few years has become a Level 2 Krav Maga student, TEAM Instructor and Co-Founder of Charleston Fight for HOPE.

Matt Robinson (Vice President)

Charleston Krav Maga & MMA

Matt Robinson is the owner and lead expert instructor of Charleston Krav Maga & MMA. Founded in 2004, the studio quickly became the area’s largest self-defense and martial arts facility with the honor of being the only Krav Maga Worldwide Studio in South Carolina and one of two American Fight MMA & Fitness Centers in the nation. His drive to make the studio the best environment possible for his members is contagious to all he meets..and no one is a stranger.  Matt’s wife Katie is an active volunteer assisting with our marketing needs, they have four children.

David Aarons (Vice President)

Captain, Goose Creek Police Department (Special Operations Division Commander)

David Aarons is from Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated from Northeastern University in December of 1988, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. David moved to the Charleston area in June of 1995 and became a police officer. He has been in law enforcement since 1996 and currently works for the City of Goose Creek Police Department, where he holds the rank of Captain and is the Special Operations Division Commander. He has serve in the role since October of 2003. David is also a certified instructor in numerous areas, to include Krav Maga. David is married and has four children.

 

 

 

Joy Wireman

Salon Mirage

Joy Wireman was born and in the Charleston area. She attended Charleston Cosmetology Institute where she earned her Cosmetology degree. Joy is a Cosmetologist at Salon Mirage in Mount Pleasant specializing in color for the past 18 years. She has been involved with the Charleston community for years. She has volunteered and chaired several local charities. In the past two years she has overseen two fundraising events for friends battling cancer. Joy enjoys helping others any way she can and being involved with the community. Joy currently lives in Charleston with her husband and two children.
